Daylight Saving Time Begins Sunday, March 13, 2016

The Count on Daylight Saving Time
The Count on Daylight Saving Time

Yes, Daylight Saving Time returns at 2 AM on Sunday, March 13th.

If we set our clocks AHEAD one hour on Saturday night, we are certain to wake up in the morning confused, hungry and either late or early for something.

The logic behind Daylight Saving Time is simple.  Americans are stupid.  If “they say” we will suddenly have an extra hour of daylight, we believe them!  Especially when we have no idea who “they” are.

If we removed our shoes/boot and placed them on top of our heads, would we believe we were taller?  (Please say, “No!”)  But if we cut out the hour between 2 AM and 3 AM in order to make a 23-hour day, we believe we have an extra hour of sunshine in the evening.

Wait.  Maybe we ARE stupid after all.

For those of us who are retired and no longer wear watches, it doesn’t matter all that much.

But for parents of small kids in school who are going to be harder to get up in the morning and harder to put to bed each evening, all we can say is: Don’t worry.  Daylight Saving Time ends on November 6, 2016.  Hang in there.
