Now that security cameras are allowed on Lake Lanier docks, we do not have to fear Big Brother watching lake houses and the shoreline.
Concerns about neighbors recording our homes, yards and docks are another matter.

Yes, homeowners may now see more than murky blurs as fisherpeople go on their docks to rip fishing lures with 6-9 treble hooks from the expensive canvass that guards their even more expensive watercraft.
We won’t mention other early morning, post-coffee fisherpeople activities that will also come into clearer focus as you monitor your docks and grounds.
At the end of July, 2017, Chief Public Affairs Officer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mobile District Lisa Hunter released this update on the issue:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District has removed security cameras from the list of items prohibited on permitted private floating facilities at Lake Sidney Lanier.
The decision follows a 30-day comment period … where interested parties had an opportunity to submit comments for or against the use of security cameras. The comments received were overwhelmingly in favor of lifting the prohibition, 257 favorable versus seven opposed and five neutral.
Based on received comments, the prohibition of cameras outlined in the Lake Sidney Lanier Shoreline Management Plan has been repealed.
