Got a nose for trash?  Can you find garbage quicker than anyone you know?  If so, the Lake Lanier Association (LLA) needs your help as an Advance Scout for Shore Sweep, scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 8 AM until 1 PM.

You’ll be sent to the front lines in the battle against junk in Lake Lanier, then you’ll report where you sighted flotsam and jetsam (fancy names for trash and garbage) along the shore.  Advance scouting reports help LLA dispatch volunteers more effectively for Shore Sweep.

Shore Sweep Advance Scouts take boat rides around various sections of Lake Lanier and mark the locations where debris is sighted.  You can use a handy-dandy phone app or print out one of the maps available at the link below to let the Shore Sweep folks where to send volunteers to grab the garbage.

According to the Lake Lanier Association’s Shore Sweep Registration page:

All scouting needs to be done no sooner than Saturday, September 12th, 2015 and needs to be completed by Wednesday, September 23rd, 2015 so that we can coordinate the scouting report details with the individual Shore Sweep locations and be ready for the big event on Saturday, September 26th, 2015.

Shore Sweep is the best way to work to keep Lake Lanier clean.  Well, maybe the second best way.  The very best way would be for everyone to pick up after themselves.  In the meantime, join more than a thousand friends and neighbors who support the Lake Lanier Association and Shore Sweep!
