The local Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) group, Chapter 611 in Gainesville, GA, has lofty goals for its 46th Annual Cracker Fly In, scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2015 from 7 AM until 3 PM at Gainesville’s Lee Gilmer Airport.
The sky is the limit for fun at the Cracker Fly In for young and old. More than 150 aircraft are expected to fly in from all over the Southeast. Come get up close and personal with homebuilt aircraft, helicopters and more.
This event was washed out a few years ago, when bad weather blew through north Georgia. This Saturday will be hot and a perfect day for the fly in.

Come hungry, as early as you’d like. Pancakes hit the grill at 07:30 (that’s pilot talk for 7:30 in the morning) with sausage, pancakes, juice or coffee for five bucks.
Lunch from the Branch House Tavern begins at 11:30. Here’s the unofficial menu:
- $6 Jumbo Pulled Pork Sandwich with coleslaw
- $6 Smoked Chicken Wings
- $6 Smoked Angus Beef Dogs
- $1 Chips & beverages
Snack vendors, snow cone vendors, drink vendors and more will be there to feed you and keep you cool.

It’s best to come to the Cracker Fly In before noon because that’s when the aircraft judging takes place. Some aircraft choose to depart once the judging is over.
Besides, it takes a long time to ramble around the entire event with all the planes you want to see, not touch and own.
Looking for a personal jet or something less expensive to bop around America? Here’s good news! Lanier Flight Center will have new aircraft demos.
