This is the year of “Culinary Tourism in Georgia.”

Let me boil that down for you, Bubba.  “Culinary” is a snooty word that means relating to the kitchen or cookery.  Most people just say “eating” but writers get paid more when we use big words.

So … 2015 is The Year to Travel Around Georgia and Eat.

That work for you?  Yup.  Works for me too.

Our not-too-snooty pals at the Lake Lanier Convention & Visitors Bureau have another of their dandy plans they’ll unveil in May: the 100 Plates Locals Love at Lake Lanier.

Let me boil that down for you.  They’ll be publicizing the best 100 places around the lake to eat.

Down yonder on this page, there’s a link to a survey where you can give your opinion that — for example — the best place on Lanier to get a decent fish fry is Skogie’s on Lake Lanier.

Of course, I cannot say the best place on Lanier to get a decent fish fry is Skogie’s on Lake Lanier because some whiner will whine about me trying to influence you into saying the best place on Lanier to get a decent fish fry is Skogie’s on Lake Lanier; therefore, I will not say the best place on Lanier to get a decent fish fry is Skogie’s on Lake Lanier.

Please Note:  I do think Skogie’s is the best culinary place to get a decent fish fry on Lake Lanier, but please try it for yourself.  Thank you.

100 Plates Locals Love at Lake Lanier will be a companion publication to the state-wide culinary travel guide being published by the state of Georgia in July of 2015.

Our Lake Lanier guide will add spice and everything nice to the state’s guide.  The Lake Lanier Culinary directory of where to eat for the best [insert your favorite kind of food] will ooze with flavorful, succulent, juicy tips on where to find

  • mouth-watering burgers that will require a dozen napkins
  • perfect pizza pies just the way you like
  • tasty fried fish so fresh you’ll think you caught it yourself
  • Italian food so original you’ll leave with an accent
  • steaks so delicious that you’ll want to buy a cowboy hat and call your husband, “Pardner”
  • Mexican delights so spicy that people will hide their children when you walk by, and
  • desserts that will make you so happy you cannot be held responsible for what happens for two hours after tasting one.

All right here on Lake Lanier in Hall County, Georgia.
