Lake Lanier Islands Christmas — Twice the Fun at Half the Price

Lake Lanier Islands Christmas for 2014 is half the price for double the fun!
Lake Lanier Islands Christmas for 2014 is half the price for double the fun!

The first time I heard about the new Lake Lanier Islands Christmas, it was almost as unbelievable as getting an e-mail from a Nigerian banker informing me I am the heir to a gazillion-dollar fortune.  Yes, the transformation at Lanier Islands this year sounds unbelievable, but it’s true!

And the fun begins on Friday, November 21st!

(No, I have no idea when their name changed from Lake Lanier Islands to “Lanier Islands,” sorry.  Yes, I checked.  It’s really the same place.)

The old Magical Nights of Lights was fun.  But, if you ever invested the $50 or so it used to cost to pack your car/van/SUV like a clown car with all your known/unknown relatives, neighbors and their friends to roam the grounds of (Lake) Lanier Islands for hours, crawling along … watching the most amazing dancing, blinking, moving, blinking, moving and dancing lights in the universe … you’ll have to admit the truth.

Somewhere around the five-millionth display — just when everybody says in unison “I really  have to go to the bathroom!” — you don’t care if you see another twinkling light for the rest of your life.  I mean, there’s a limit to how many times you can say, “Wow! Look at those lights!” without going mad.  You wanted to do more … without paying more.

Good news!

You can STILL “enjoy the twinkle of millions of lights” but you can also do other fun stuff — for free!  Such as free ice skating after 5 PM at the Polar Rink presented by Coca-Cola, not to mention the Live Nativity and cool stuff at Bucky’s.

Please Note:  Don’t know how to ice-skate?  Cram a Yankee or two in your car.  They’ll teach you!

This year is extra special for large families because you don’t have to whiz by the dancing Holiday House, Santa’s Workshop, Christmas Carnival and more, fearing you’ll need a home-equity loan if you stop your car to let everybody out.

Visiting Lanier Islands Christmas Monday-Thursday is only $20 per car!  No more searching the Internet for special deals until you break your last nail!  If I remember correctly, that used to be $50/car for the lights alone.  Now you get more … and you pay less.  That’s a deal.

Lanier Islands says:

When planning your trip to experience Lanier Islands Christmas, be sure to pack your vehicle full because unlike other holiday driving experiences, you pay by the carload and not per person! Load up the car with up to nine people and pay just one flat price!

Please Note:  (Lake) Lanier Islands cannot be held responsible for injuries if you try to fill your Mini by stuffing your mother-in-law and you-know-who in the trunk.  Thank you.

Lanier Islands Christmas begins with a drive over the Lanier Islands bridge, down through Teddy Bear Land, past your classic favorites and all the way to the Holiday Village!

Warm up by the bonfire and roast a couple of marshmallows.  Once you’re toasty, have some tasty holiday food.  Ready for more?  You’ll find amusement rides, holiday joy and Christmas tree ornaments on sale to commemorate your annual visit.
