Our friend Nick Baggett — US Army Corps of Engineers’ Natural Resource Manager for Lake Sidney Lanier — asked lakelanier.com to invite you to an exciting day on Lake Lanier at War Hill Park in Dawson County, off State Highway 53, not far from the outlet malls.
A multitude of local, state and federal agencies are going to support an operation by the 5th Ranger Training Battalion, based at Camp Merrill in Dahlonega.
Nick says Rangers in training will be parachuting into Lake Lanier all day long. You’re invited to watch, beginning at 8 AM on Thursday, May 8th.
If you weren’t fortunate enough to attend the recent open house at the Ranger Training Camp, you’ll want to grab this opportunity to witness some of America’s finest soldiers preparing to become Rangers.

This truly unique event is especially wonderful for the Rangers themselves because their families will be there to cheer them on and take part in their otherwise covert training.
We are free in America because of men and women in the Armed Forces who gave their lives for our nation’s freedom. Come out to War Hill Park and thank these Rangers and their families for their sacrifices.
We’re thankful for the many agencies who will be there to help in case of emergency, should anything goe wrong during the 100 parachute drops into Lake Lanier.
It’s a tough question, but would you and I do that for America?
God bless the Rangers!
