Lake Lanier Shore Sweep — 9-29-2012

Shore Sweep 2012 is Saturday, September 29th from 8 AM until 1 PM.

That’s the day hundreds of volunteers will scour Lake Lanier for garbage, trash and junk to be thrown away at the lake’s marinas, Lake Lanier Islands, Clarks Bridge Park and at War Hill Parks.

Shore Sweep itself takes place Saturday, September 29th starting at 8:00AM and ending at 1:00PM.  We still could use help with advance scouting of shoreline areas — particularly in the Hall County portion of the lake.

If you are available to drive your boat around Lanier one day this week — especially in the Hall County portion – to scout the shoreline for trash and mark the locations on a map, that would be helpful with deploying volunteers on Saturday.

Shore Sweep has nine advance drop-off locations around the lake this year (see list below).

The advance locations are open through Friday evening, September 28th.  You can bring bagged trash or large items and leave them at these locations.  Volunteers with boats are scheduled to pick everything up at these locations on Saturday for removal.

For the advance locations, they only accept trash while the Shore Sweep Signs are in place.  Please DO NOT bring trash to these locations other times of the year.

If you bring trash to any of these advance locations, please look for the signs posted and leave the debris close to the signs.

The lake map coordinates are from the Atlantic Mapping Recreation and Fishing Guide for Lake Lanier.

We are grateful for all the work done by Joanna Cloud and her faithful volunteers at the Lake Lanier Association.
