Drowning on Lake Lanier

Bolding Mill Park was the scene of Lake Lanier’s latest drowning on Monday, August 6, 2012, when a 25-year-old man from Gainesville died while swimming.

Melissa Cummings, from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, said Spencer Obe Dye began to struggle while swimming with a friend.  The unidentified friend pulled Mr. Dye from the water and unsuccessfully attempted to resuscitate Mr. Dye.

Fire Chief David Kimbrell of the Hall County Fire Services said emergency workers from his team also tried to revive Mr. Dye, who was pronounced dead at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville shortly before 6 PM.

Bolding Mill Park is located at 4055 Chestatee Road, not far from Cool Springs Road in the northwestern section of Lake Lanier.

We extend our condolences to Mr. Dye’s family and friends.
