Formula Drift was founded in 2004.  That explains their slogan, “Ten Years and Still Sideways.”

Drifting is to racing what the tango is to dancing.

Drifting is all wrong.  Slower cars can win.  Style is more important than being the first one to cross the finish line.  Stall, stop or go off the track and you’re disqualified.  Sweep your car through the corners — gracefully spinning and smoking your tires — and you get more points than driving the way you and I were taught.

Drifting is for renegades.  People who refuse to follow the rules or anything else.  Drifters are exceptionally strange … like Cindy McCain, former presidential candidate John McCain’s wife.  [Would I Lie To You?]

People who watch drift racing on the other hand are perfectly normal, except for the enormous rush they get from the noise, the smoke, the cars and the thrill that cannot be ignored trackside.

Witness drifting for yourself at Road Atlanta, Saturday, May 11th, from 8 AM until well past 8 PM.  Bring your kids or anybody else with a pulse.

From noon until 6 PM, Atlanta’s Slammed Society will put on display what they call “a lifestyle car show” featuring jaw-dropping, perfectly dialed-in low riders, classics, drift and race cars.  Extreme styling with expert craftsmanship, creativity and attention to detail is a trademark of the Slammed Society car show.

You’ll love it all.  But leave the crazoid driving at the track and take it easy on the way home.

Seriously.  This isn’t for minivans, OK?

Unless you strip it and slap in a few rollbars … and a giant turbo-charged V-8.  Hmmmmm.  This might work.
