Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club Volunteers Needed

Our friends with the Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club (LCKC) have a great opportunity for you.  They have plenty of spots available for volunteers needed on Saturday, June 16, 2018.  Here’s the catch!  You must be willing to have fun, work hard and get a free lunch.

Years ago, I was a jon boat driver at Lake Lanier Olympic Park for several regattas.  That’s the best seat in the house.  Right on the water.  Right there with the athletes.  In the middle of the action.  Watching other people paddle their brains out … while calmly gliding along beside them.

Follow in my wake, if you can, and snag my favorite job for volunteers: driving a jon boat.  Or, be an assistant jon boater for the Gainesville-Hall Dragon Boat Challenge and Southern Invitational.

There are lots of other fun things to do.  The Lanier Kayak & Canoe Club (LCKC) needs volunteers to run results up and down the stairs inside the timing tower or over to the base of operations.  Sign up for morning or afternoon shifts.  Better yet, stay the entire day lakeside.

Maintenance engineers are welcome to pitch trash into receptacles around the venue.  Those who collect the most garbage will also be eligible for a free lunch!

The LCKC press release mentioned a mysterious opportunity to “shadow someone on the finish line.”  Sounds pretty cool.  They didn’t mention a prerequisite for any superhero talents, but I’d bet the ability to be invisible would help.
