Gainesville Spring Chicken Festival 2012 Photographs

The Annual Spring Chicken Festival is Gainesville’s most fowl day and one of the most fun.

Only Gainesville — home to two giant chicken statues — is worthy of being known as the Poultry Capital of the World!

The party began with a 5k race, followed by a parade, the WDUN Sweet Tea Showdown, cool vendors and hot chicken.

Director of Keep Hall Beautiful Cindy Reed said: “This festival gets bigger and bigger every year and the competition for cooking the best chicken is quite fierce. We are Georgia’s ‘Official Chicken Cook-Off’ and our number one rule is to have fun!”

Everyone paid strict attention to the number one rule and had all the fun, food and friendliness they could endure.

There is still no word from Cindy Reed about adding a “Fowl Ball” dance to the program next year.  Please be sure to mention it when you see her.

Thank you.
