Hall County filed a Clean Water Act Section 404 Permit Application for a proposed Glades Reservoir project with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Savannah District in February of 2007.
The initial proposal was for an 850-acre reservoir on Flat Creek. The project was expected to meet the needs of northern and eastern Hall County (excluding areas served by the City of Gainesville Public Utilities) through 2060. The application assumed that additional Lake Lanier withdrawal will be allowed to meet the water supply need in the areas served by the City of Gainesville.
The USACE has scheduled an Open House for December 8, 2015 from 5 – 9 PM to allow the public to comment on the Glades Reservoir Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) that was published on October 30, 2015 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The public may comment on the Glades Draft EIS at the Hall County Board of Commissioners’ Auditorium at 2875 Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville, Georgia, 30504 on December 8th.
The public commenting period will end on December 29, 2015.
