The 5th Ranger Training Battalion at Camp Merrill in Dahlonega is where America’s toughest soldiers get tougher during the Mountain Phase of Ranger School.
Rangers are trained, assessed and retrained on individual and collective platoon-level Infantry tasks they’ll need to lead combat operations in mountainous environments anywhere they’re called to serve.
The only thing a Ranger cannot do is quit.
Witness heroes in action on Saturday, April 26 2014 at Camp Merrill when the Rangers hold the 5th Ranger Training Battalion Open House.
Beginning at 11 AM, following public running events, Rangers will demonstrate HALO (High-Altitude Low-Opening) parachute jumps, Fast Rope Insertions from a Blackhawk helicopter, a mountaineering demonstration on the rock wall at the Lowers, hand-to-hand combat demonstrations and how to survive an ambush. Military weapons and equipment will be displayed around the camp’s Mosby Field.
Nobody likes war. When America must fight, however, Rangers lead the way to victory.
Visit Camp Merrill on Saturday, April 26th … if only to thank our soldiers for earning and maintaining freedom for us in the United States of America and for others around the world.
