Spring Chicken Festival Pictures

Gainesville’s Spring Chicken Festival was poultry in motion.

Executive Director Cindy Reed and her marvelous volunteers tasted victory on Saturday, April 28th — as did all who sampled the variety of delicious chicken prepared by Lazy Bear, Pull My Pork, Walgreen’s and Best Buy, among others.

Keep Hall Beautiful sponsored the event which began with a 5K race along the new Midtown Greenway and included the Chicken City Parade, many vendors and the famous chicken cook-off.  The festival benefits the Tree Replacement Fund at Keep Hall Beautiful.

The Gainesville Times quotes Keep Hall Beautiful President Rick Foote as saying the celebration “recognizes what Gainesville is known for as poultry capital of the world. There was no festival recognizing this historical significance of the industry that brought this area out of the Great Depression.”

Only Gainesville, Georgia, is brave enough to be the Chicken Capital of the World!
