The Silent Partners for the Kids, Inc., a Georgia non-profit organization, has announced their decision to organize and sponsor a Lake Lanier Poker Run on September 19, 2009, with proceeds to go to Juvenile Diabetes Association of Atlanta. There’s a chance to win the Grand Prize of $75,000.
This event will be one of the first “on Lake Lanier” poker runs to be held since approximately 4 years ago. The event is scheduled to take place September 19, 2009 at 9 am, from various locations around the lake-each participant will be able to begin from their home marinas or boat launch sites.
Along with Silent Partners for the Kids, Inc., several other contributors including Aqualand Marina, Holiday Marina, Lanier Harbor Marina, Sunrise Cove Marina, and Port Royale Marina will be participating in this charitable event.
There will be a limit of 200 boats allowed to register for this poker run, and boat classes will be limited to performance, pontoons, run abouts, ski, and cruiser style boats.
In keeping with the theme of the event-all participants are encouraged to dress accordingly in Pirate attire since each boat and crew will have the opportunity to receive great prizes and giveaways for “Best Dressed Crew-Admirals Ahoy”, “Worst Dressed Crew-Gilligan’s Grunge”, Best Decorated Boat-Pride of the Fleet”, and “Worst Decorated Boat-Shipwrecked Sally’s”.
There will be a mandatory meeting of all boat captains Friday, September 18, 2009 at 7 pm at Holiday Marina Pavilion located off of Holiday Road, Buford, GA. Each boat captain will receive coordinates for the poker run-for each checkpoint, as well as on overview of the rules for the event.
What makes this poker run so exciting is that each participant in the Castaways Poker Run will have a chance to win the Grand Prize of $75,000 in cash! The pirate matching their poker hand to the secret treasure hand of Davy Jones at the end will ultimately win the Grand Prize of $75,000 in cash. All entries will have an opportunity to win additional cash prizes as well.
Aqualand Marina will be the site for the announcement of the treasure winners at a Post Poker Run Event Party beginning at 2 pm. Winners from the poker run will be announced, and are required to be present to win.
Entry fees for the Silent Partners for the Kids, Pirates of Lanier-Castaways Poker Run will be $75 per boat, with extra hands available for $25 each.
