After my lovely Memorial Day weekend, I thought I should write about another community up towards Lake Lanier, my selection this time is the Reunion Homes which are being developed by John Wieland.  As you probably know, John Wieland has a pretty good reputation as an Atlanta builder, so I thought would check these out myself and see what kind of grade I would give them.

First of all, this subdivision is located in Hoschton GA, which is located near Chateau Elan on one end and Braselton on the other.  Hoschton is one of the further communities from Lake Lanier that I will write about. I would estimate that Hoschton is about a 20 minute drive over to Lake Lanier ( i.e. Holiday Marina area).

The Homes at Reunion remind of a 19th century feel.  I have been seeing more and more builders going this route lately and I really love it.  I am enchanted with old homes from Savananah and Charleston so a new home community that sort of resembles that feel, already gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside!  I think what I really like about these homes is their porches. All homes have top sitting porches, wrap around porches, back porches or porches that go around the entire home!  I can also tell that the residents like to put work into their landscaping. I would say most of them are done really nice, so if you plan on buying in this community you better make a budget for landscaping!

Amenities for this neighborhood include a waterslide and waterpark for the kiddies.   For the adults, a 18 hole golf course and a athletic club.  They also have an onside activities director, so there is always something to do around there.

I am trying to figure out if the residents are allowed to drive their golf carts around too. I think they are allowed, but I only saw some punk driving one and who knows if he was just out causing chaos in the community or if he was legit.

This is a pretty affordable community too. Pricing starts at $280,000 up to $600,000.  They also have plenty of new homes available as well(I know in the past they offered deals on the new homes, so feel free to email me to see if there are any current deals).  The yearly HOA fees are at $700.

As of today, 5/27/08, there is one foreclosure available too which is a 4 bedroom for $317k, originally purchased at $341k, so that is a great deal!

Don’t worry, there are places to eat out nearby, including one of my favorite Sushi restaurants, Green Tea.  Apparently Patrick Dempsey loves it too because they have pictures of him posted everywhere.  Plus, they are one of the only sushi restaurants that make chicken tempura rolls!  Yum!  There is also Jeffreys Sportsbar, Bottom of the Cup restaurant and Hoschton Bar and Grill.
