Lake Lanier is getting some nice rainfall today. The water level at Lake Lanier is currently 1064.55 and rising. It is supposed to rain for most of the day today with some areas receiving 3 inches or more. Despite the rain, the Corp is continuing to release water at Lake Lanier. The current outflow at Lake Lanier is at 1141 CFS. It would have been nice to see the Corp to allow Lake Lanier to get to full pool before releasing so much water downstream.
With all of the rain we have had this summer and cooler temperatures, Lake Lanier should be at full pool. There is no excuse why it should not be at full pool other than the Corps flawed water mismanagement plan at Lake Lanier. I guess the Corp is guessing that a wet winter will bring the lake level up.
Thanks for posting comments on the last post. I agree with you that the fisherman’s disregard to the signs and warnings at Buford Dam almost cost him his life. The water being released from the dam was not what almost killed him, it was his own misjudgment and lack of preparedness. The guy was standing on a rock in the middle of the river without a life jacket! Who does that! I personally have been below Buford Dam and there are warning signs everywhere about sudden water releases. There is no excuse for this to have happened.
Well the rain continues to fall and the Corps have yet to plug Buford Dam so it will be interesting to see what happens with the water level at Lake Lanier. I will make another post when I see a change in the water level. Again I welcome your comments and I will post more information as it materializes.
