Row, Row, Row your boat this summer at the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue. Get out on the lake and learn to row with elite athletes from the Lanier Rowing Club.
Who can join? These program are open to girls and boys from any high school or middle school in the area. No experience necessary! We will teach you everything you need to know about rowing.
What are the benefits? Rowing is a great sport that combines a full body workout with aerobic training. Especially for female rowers, many college scholarship opportunities are available at schools with Division I programs. Rowing experience can also enhance your college application to Division II and III programs, as well as Ivy League schools. It’s a great way to spend afternoons on the lake!
Rowing can be considered the ultimate team sport – it takes 2, 4, or 9 people working together to get the boat to move fast (or move at all!). 100% attendance is strongly encouraged to facilitate team cohesion and improvements. If you regularly miss practices you will not only be hindering your own success, but the success of the entire team.
Summer Camps: Several camps are planned for the summer. Participants will learn the fundamentals of rowing while getting actual experience rowing a racing shell. This is a great opportunity to acquire new skills, try a fascinating sport, improve conditioning, and have a huge amount of fun. Sessions will be conducted on 5 consecutive days, with LLRC coaches doing the teaching and experienced rowers on hand to help show the ropes. The program is designed for teens with little or no rowing experience. Participants will learn sweep and scull rowing techniques in one, two, four, and eight-person shells. The course is co-ed and will be designed in a well organized and non-competitive atmosphere. Cost: $75/week, or $200/month.
