Don’t know what “picayune” means?  Look it up, or ask a teacher.

Of course Mr. Perdue doesn’t think teachers know what it means, or at least he doesn’t see the value of anyone teaching what the word means.

This is actually old news, but it is about to hit home.  This year in the legislative session the National Board Certification bonuses were eliminated.  Well almost.  You can read all of the information here.

Two of the teachers mentioned, Mr. Steven Wang and Ms. Charity Wang, are from right here in Hall County.  You may not know that Mr. Wang is the President of the Hall County Chapter of GAE.  GAE stands for the Georgia Association of Educators and is the affliate of the NEA or National Education Association.  That’s right.  It is one of those left wing liberal organization dedicated to the socialist, fascist, and communistic whims of President Obama.

What is strange is the level of whining from Mr. and Mrs. Wang.  These two have gotten hit doubly hard by this pay elimination.  Now no one knows how they vote, but when given the chance to publicly put their money where their mouth was in a contested election, Mr. Wang and his band of GAE merry people decided to sit it out and ride the fence.

Don’t know what I am talking about?  Check out the last election cycle here in Hall County.  There was only one contested race between a democrat and a republican for the General Assembly.

The Republican candidate, James Mills, had a failing voting record for GAE issues.  He voted against every substantial teacher pay raise during the 1990’s, and he voted this session to eliminate the NBC raises.  Mr. Mills is also in favor of Eric Johnson’s “Let’s bankrupt public education policy.”

The Democratic candidate was a school teacher.  Dr. Christopher Strickland called for prioritized spending for education, grandfathering in NBC raises, pay raises to balance out health insurance premium increases, and lower class sizes.  He promise to fight vouchers at every turn, and was the only candidate in favor of allowing teacher to have collective bargaining rights in the state of Georgia.

So what did GAE and Mr. Wang do?  They said both of the candidates are acceptable.

Well, if you keep voting like you are voting, then you will keep getting what you are getting.  Hope you like what you got!

Then again, there is always next year.
