This is the last call for Shore Sweep volunteers to pitch in to pitch out the trash from Lake Lanier on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017.
Anyone who has already yanked junk out of the lake can take it to the advance drop off locations that are already open.
Prior to the event, there are eight advance drop off locations around the lake that will stay open through Friday evening, September 22nd.
Organizers have twelve different locations where you may report to volunteer on Saturday. Wear clothes that won’t make you weep if they get dirty. Bring water, sunscreen and sturdy shoes, not flip-flops.
We need volunteers by land, as well as by water. For our by-water volunteers, power boats, jet skis, pontoons, kayaks and canoes all have a place at this event. You are invited to come to any of these places around Lake Lanier at 8 AM until 1 PM:
- Bald Ridge, Aqualand, Gainesville Marina, and Port Royale Marinas. Lanier Islands, Balus Creek and Big Creek Boat Ramps. Lake Lanier Olympic Park, Don Carter State Park. Gwinnett, Longwood, and War Hill Parks.
If you have bagged trash or large items, please leave them at one of these locations. (The lake map coordinates are from the Atlantic Mapping Recreation and Fishing Guide for Lake Lanier.)
The advance locations only accept trash while Shore Sweep banners are in place.
