Lake Lanier’s Browns Bridge Closed the Weekend of 10-28-16

Georgia DOT District One Communications Officer Katie Strickland distributed a helpful note advising us to advise you that the bridge on Browns Bridge “will be completely closed to traffic” — yes, in both dang directions — the weekend of October 28th.

That’s because “work will continue replacing the driving surface on Brown’s Bridge (Route 369).”

Browns Bridge Closure

Browns Bridge will be closed between 9 PM and 5 AM on Friday, October 28th through Monday, October 31st.  Happy Halloween!

Route 369/Browns Bridge Road Detour

A clearly marked detour route will direct traffic at the intersection of State Route 369 and State Route 53 and also at State Route 306.

We’ll need to take Route 53 — also known as Dawsonville Highway — to cross Lake Lanier when Browns Bridge is closed for repairs.  Or, you can drive down to Route 2o and head to/from Cumming.

Be of good cheer!

Work should be completed before the New Year, weather permitting.

It’s about time! That bridge (and frankly all of Browns Bridge Road from McEver to 400) should be an embarrassment to whatever government entity is responsible for it. There are roads in Iraq that are better than Browns Bridge Road.

I thought they were going to build a new bridge there.
