Labor Day weekend is upon us.  Can you believe it? I mean it feels like it should be May or June and not September already.  It has been an up and down summer for Lake Lanier with the water war still raging on.  The water level at the lake is currently down by 6.43 feet.  All boat ramps and parks will be open this weekend so the water level should not pose any threat to halting you boat launch.

The current water level is 1064.57 with an outflow of 1146 CFS.  Forecasters, have predicted it to be a wetter than normal winter with the El Nina weather pattern.  Maybe by next boating season Lake Lanier will be at full pool. However if the mismanagement of Lake Lanier continues, we might have a repeat of this past boating season or even worse.  We need to be on top of the issues that affect Lake Lanier during the course of the winter when most people turn their attention towards other things.

I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend.  If you are on the water don’t forget to wear your life jackets.
