If you are older than 16 and younger than 65, you need a fishing license to cast off in Lake Lanier. You can get a license one of three ways:
- in person at a license dealer, such as sporting goods outlets, major discount retailers, marinas, bait and tackle shops and hardware stores (don’t forget your proof of residence)
- by telephone: (800) 366-2661
- at http://georgiawildlife.dnr.state.ga.us/
Fees:
- Sportsman’s: $60 (covers all fishing and hunting privileges in Georgia)
- Season fishing: $9
- One-day fishing: $3.50
- Trout (in season): $8
- Wildlife Management Area: $19
- Combination hunting and fishing: $17
- Lifetime license, ages 2 and under: $200
- Lifetime license, ages 2-15: $350
- Lifetime license, ages 16 & older: $500
- Lifetime license, ages 60-65: $95
- Free to ages 65 & older
- One-time license free to discharged military veterans
- Nonresidents season fishing: $24
- Nonresidents one-day fishing: $3.50
- Nonresidents seven-day fishing: $7
- Nonresidents trout (in season): $13
- Nonresidents Wildlife Management Area: $73
