How much would you pay to be able to ride your motorcycle through stop signs and red lights for an hour or two — with a police escort?
Here’s your chance, and you don’t have to worry that your insurance company will find out about it.
Saturday, August 18, 2012, is the date for Riding for Kids, sponsored by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
All the money raised during this event will go toward buying bicycles to be given as Christmas presents to less fortunate kids in our area.
Registration for the event begins at 8:30 AM at the Hall County Courthouse parking garage (225 Green Street in Gainesville).
You’ll hear “Kickstands Up!” when the ride begins at 10 AM.
Deputies from local sheriff’s departments will block off major intersections to allow all the bikes to ride together.
The cost — for charity — is $25 for the rider. For $10 more, you can add a passenger. Lunch is included for riders and passengers. If you just want to come and see if I’ll let you sit on Grasshopper the Humble Ninja (I won’t), you can buy a dandy cookout lunch for only $5.
Did I mention great doorprizes?
Rain date for this ride is August 25th. For more information call 770-531-7093.
If you get there early enough on Saturday, you might be able to get a free T-shirt, but supplies are limited.
