There’s a 20% chance of rain for Hall County on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, but there’s a 100% chance that many residents will be hearing what we commonly call tornado sirens.
Starting at 10 AM, Hall County Central Communications/E 9-1-1 is scheduled to run a three-minute audible test of the county’s severe weather warning system. The key word here is “test.”
Should severe weather actually be in our vicinity on Wednesday, the drill will be postponed.
Every three months the sirens are tested using the loud alert sound, but the Hall County Warning System is also silently checked each morning at 9. With the exception of these quarterly tests, when you hear the sirens there is an imminent emergency … most often an actual tornado warning.
