We regret to inform you of the death of Susan Button, age 61, of Buford, GA.  Her body was found in Lake Lanier on Sunday, August 2, 2015, just before 1:30 in the afternoon.

Hall County Sheriff Deputy Nicole Bailes says authorities received a 911 call at 1:23 PM about the woman who was “floating unresponsive in the lake.”

Authorities do not know what led to Susan Button being located face-down by family members.

According to Officer Bailes, “Family members indicated that the victim was preparing for a day out on the lake and was last seen on the [family’s] dock.”

The incident occurred near a dock off Woodlake Drive in south Hall County, off of Buford Dam Road.

Unfortunately, emergency rescue crews and family members were unable to resuscitate Susan Button.  She was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Braselton.

An autopsy was performed on the victim and the cause of death has been ruled as an accidental drowning.  No foul play is suspected in this incident.

We extend our most sincere gratitude to all who came to Susan Button’s aid.

We also extend our deepest condolences to Susan Button’s family and friends.
