Our friends with the Lake Lanier Canoe Kayak Club (LCKC) will have their paddles in the water in Toronto, Canada, at the Pam American Games.  We know they’ll make us proud.

LCKC’s Brenda Miller tells us the USA Canoe/Kayak and the United States Olympic Committee named several local paddlers to the 2015 Flatwater sprint competition to be held at the Welland Flatwater Center on starting on Saturday July 11 and ending on Tuesday the 14th.

These local athletes from the Lanier Canoe Kayak Club will represent the USA:

  1. Tim Hornsby
  2. Chris Miller and
  3. Stanton Collins.

Tim Hornsby, who competed in the 2012 Olympic Games, will vie for gold in the Men’s K1 200 meter event.  Chris Miller and Stanton Collins will compete in the Men’s K2 1000 meter event.

Lanier Canoe Kayak Club’s Coach Claudiu Ciur will be the coach for the USA team during the  PanAmerican Games flatwater sprint competition.

TeamUSA.org’s website says

The 2015 U.S. Pan American squad features 111 Olympians, including 38 Olympic medalists and 20 Olympic champions. Headlining the roster is swimmer Natalie Coughlin (Vallejo, Calf.), who is one of the three most decorated women in U.S. Olympic history with 12 medals. Also highlighting the list of accomplished U.S. athletes is six-time Olympic medalist in swimming Allison Schmitt (Canton, Mich.) and five-time Olympic medalist in shooting Kim Rhode (El Monte, Calif.), who own three gold medals apiece.
