We regret to inform you of the death of Quentin Aaron Muse, age 20, of Braselton, Georgia.
Mr. Muse was swimming with friends on Monday, June 8, 2015, near Shady Grove Campground in the northwest portion of Lake Lanier when he began to struggle.
Deputy Robin Regan of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said crews responded to an emergency call around 8:15 PM about a man who “was not able to swim back to shore and he did go under.”
Rescue crews arrived at the scene and divers recovered Mr. Muse at about 9 PM. Emergency crews began treating him immediately. Unfortunately, Mr. Muse had been underwater for approximately 45 minutes.
An unnamed friend who tried to rescue Mr. Muse was treated at the scene for water inhalation.
Mr. Muse was taken to Northside Hospital in Forsyth County, where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation found that Mr. Muse was not wearing a life jacket. Foul play is not suspected.
