National Championship Races at Lanier Olympic Venue

The 2014 USA Canoe / Kayak Sprint National Championships and USA Canoe / Kayak Masters National Championships will be held on Lake Lanier July 31-August 3, 2014.

Once again, the Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club has the distinct honor of hosting national championship races at the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue.

TheĀ 2014 USA CANOE KAYAK Sprint National Championships and Masters National Championships will begin on Thursday, July 31st and will continue through Sunday, August 3, 2014.

If estimates from the GA Department of Transportation are correct, the road leading to Clarks Bridge Park — home to the Olympic Venue, the Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club and the Lake Lanier Rowing Club —Ā will reopen following major construction work, including a new pedestrian tunnel under the highway.

The Lake Lanier Olympic VenueĀ was the site of the 1996 Olympic venue for both rowing and sprint canoe, the only ICF World Cup event to be held in North America.Ā  The 2003Ā Lanier Canoe Flatwater World Championships were also conducted at this world-class site.

National Championship Race Information

  • All US Participants in the USA CANOE KAYAK Sprint National Championships must be a current registered member of USA CANOE KAYAK on July 1, 2014.Ā  Club membership will be determined by the athletes listed on the USA CANOE KAYAK roster of each club on July 1st. (You will not be able to update your USA CANOE/KAYAK membership at Nationals.)
  • The 2014 USA CANOE KAYAK Sprint National Championships is open to international athletes.
  • Join your athletes on the water during the practice days before races begin. LCKC will offer kayak rentals to allow spectators to tour the course. This unique opportunity will give spectators a chance to see what the athletes see during the races. Rentals will be available for $10.00 / hour during practice times.
  • The 2014 USA C/K Sprint Nationals Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday evening, August 2nd at the Gainesville Civic Center, 830 Green Street, Gainesville, GA. The National Championships team awards/club trophies will be presented at the banquet. Tickets for the Awards Banquet are $38. per person and must be purchased online at www.lckc.org/2014Nationals by July 10th. (Time TBD)

EVENT T-SHIRTS:Ā  Pre-sale of the 2014 USA C/K Sprint National Championship T-shirt will be available online at www.lckc.org/2014nationals.Ā  Deadline to order t-shirts is July 16th. A limited number will be available for sale at the event.

VIP TICKETS: VIP tickets are available for access to the air-conditioned Centennial Legacy Foundation VIP Room on the first floor of the Olympic Finish Tower. Lunch and snacks provided. Tickets may be purchased at www.lckc.org/2014nationals by July 23rd, for $25.00 per day, per person. Limited number of tickets available.

VOLUNTEERS: LCKC has many opportunities for parents and friends to volunteer during the National Championships. Volunteers will receive free lunch and a limited edition t-shirt. If you would like to volunteer please email [email protected] or call 770-287-7888.

USA CANOE/KAYAK Masters National Championship Races

Masters National Championships will be held as a separate Regatta on Sunday, August 3rd.Ā  All races will be 500 meters.

Entry Deadline: July 17 (midnight EST). Only entries submitted online and paid in full by the entry deadline are valid. Late entries or entries that are not made in accordance with the special rules for National Championships may not be accepted. Unattached competitors will be allowed to enter individually.
